Happy Lunar New Year & Gōng Xǐ Fā Cái! The Year of the Fire Rooster is upon us and the lunar new year celebrations throughout South East Asia and East Asia are in full swing. Here at Mint Talent, we have a network of clients and candidates that stretches across the Asia Pacific region, so we often travel to nurture these relationships.
As such, we were lucky enough to see these celebrations first-hand during our most recent business trip to Singapore, just last week!
The celebration is marked by family gatherings, feasts, visits to temples, events and colourful decorations throughout the city.
The main shopping destination of Orchard Road is emblazoned with lights and ornaments. The sound of drums accompanies lion dances outside shops and businesses. And at night, the city lights up with free events for locals. Families with kids stroll the bay area and couples and friends meet up for delicious hawker-market meals.
It was a wonderful atmosphere!
As well as enjoying the festivities, we also caught up with our clients and candidates. Part of our ethos at Mint Talent is cultivating a personal relationship with our ever-growing network, and following up on our successful placements.
One of our successful candidates is Oliver Lau.
Mint Talent worked with Oliver to find his desired role at a leading Global Advertising Technology company in October 2016. Oliver was based in Hong Kong at the time, and Mint Talent helped Oliver with his career transition from Hong Kong to Singapore. As with all our candidates, we love getting to know them and we continually keep in touch with them to make sure their transition is a smooth one. Usually, this is done over the phone, and although we had spoken many times since his move from Hong Kong, it was a great pleasure and privilege to be able to meet up with Oliver and get his feedback over an iced-coffee.
